⸺ Mission Statement ⸺
The Housing Authority of the City of Barnesville was created in 1957 to help fill the need for decent, safe, and affordable housing in Lamar County. By administering and developing housing opportunities for citizens of low to moderate incomes, the Authority has been able to provide not only housing stock, but also essential self-sufficiency skills crucial to assisting residents in moving up and out of public housing.
A six member Board of Commissioners appointed by the Mayor of Barnesville governs the Authority. The Board is in charge of setting the policies and providing guidance to the Authority. In keeping with its strong belief in resident participation and empowerment, one member of the board is a resident of the Authority.
